OK .. All of my family members and most of my co-workers are staunch pro-Bush Republicans. They practically pee on themselves to defend the current administration. And if George or Dick do something that EVERYONE knows is just plain stupid, these people are the first to say, "but they are good men who bring morals to our country." Or some sort of bullshit like that.

So, you have to know that I have absolute leave-school-early-field trip exceitement when events like Senator Vitter's involvement with the DC Madam and Scooter Libby's pardon pop up in the news. I am practically skipping down that yellow brick Republican road going, "Ooops, they did it again!'

But of course the Republicans are there to mount a counter attack, because everything these days is "WAR" with them. WAR on terrorism, WAR on drugs, WAR on illegal immigration, WAR to find some type of platform for Laura Bush to use, so that she can prove she actually did something for 8 years! Yo, zanax popping, doritos eating behind everyone's back lady .. call your mother in law. Mama Bush had the easiest platform .. "EVERYBODY JUST READ!" How hard was that to come up with?

But back to the counter attack. So after I make my comments, without a doubt, everyone will point out the whipping boy for all the Democratic wrongs: Clinton. Clinton pardoned 100+ people [to which I always say, just give W time, there will be many more], OR Clinton had a sex scandal [yes he did .. hello, old news. But as we are learning, so have many of the Republicans. Many more.].

However, when I try to have these discussions with the family or co-workers, they seem to miss a giant fact. Clinton [and Hill for that matter], never proclaimed to be perfect. Never claimed to be bringing "morals" back to America. Never were so supported by the Religious Right.

But when George and Dick were campaigned in 2000-2001, it was about bringing "family values" back to America. I guess for many of these Republican congressmen, "family" can be described as your wife, kids and mistress or call girl.

And I have to say that I LOVE whenever the moral do-gooders get caught with their pants around their ankles, they immediately go into counseling, admit the sin and apologize. Honey, counseling and an apology is not going to stop you from visting the cat house again. And again.

Now I am not a complete fan of Bill or Hill, and it was wrong that he lied, but in the end, you knew that he was not going to try and cram his values up your ass.
