Roscoe Wants His Dinner Now!

HAYYYYY!! OK ........ After yours truly, Call Him Miss Ross, was harshly scolded by Hackberry Diva-In-Training, Miss Gina, for not posting more pictures of Mr. Roscoe, I decided to let Mr. Man [pictured above on the floor, with his buddy, Peabody, who is in the chair] give the birthday shout outs:

1. A Huge HAPPY [and belated] BIRTHDAY to our Real Estate Diva Supreme, Miss Peggy! I hope that you had a fantastic birthday, and enjoy the new tv! Thanks for letting my dad be a part of your birthday celebration with Miss Anne and Miss Gina. And remember, if you get an i-phone, Daddy will be glad to talk your ears off.

2. Super Size with a chocolate milk HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my friend [and Doobie's Mama] Jennifer, whose birthday is actually on Tuesday! Happy number #29, although you don't look older than 21! My Dad says, "Thank you for the great dinner .. with red velvet cake [he loves, loves, loves some cream cheese icing]."

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LADIES!

HAYYYYY!! OK ........ If you have read more than a few entries on my blog, you know I LOVE ME SOME Kathy Griffin! The woman is incredibly talented and will not back down for anyone! LOVE HER! Anyway, in case you have not heard, guess who was Kathy's guest at the Teen Choice Awards?? None other than Bristol Palin's baby daddy, and "she's not a quitter" Sarah Palin's continual nightmare ..... LEVI JOHNSTON!!

Now dear readers [of the 2 or 3 that are out there], did I not mention that Levi is doing his best to extend those 15 minutes of fame? His pairing with Kathy is just one more step toward his own reality show!

And as for Kathy .. PURE GENIUS to show up with a guy who is 19 years younger, and from a family that she tears apart on Larry King Live!

In other news, and this may only be important to me, but has anybody realized how many big music DIVAS have new recordings that come out in September? Whitney Houston [from what I've heard sounds damn good], Mariah [you're on fire!], Streisand [going the standards / jazz route], Madonna [releasing her big greatest hits package, before jumping to Live Nation] and Colton Ford .. ok I added that one, but one look at that body and DAMNNNNNNNN!

HAYYYYY!! OK ........ Major Shout Out to the True Colors Theatre Company, for their incredible production of FOR COLORED GIRLS ........! I had the opportunity to see the show tonight with my friend A.B., and after the curtain call, we were both left with "WOW!"

In addition to the performance, we stayed for the talk back with Jasmine Guy and all the actresses.

I had heard monologues from FOR COLORED GIRLS .. for many years, but never had the chance to see a production. True Colors' decision to have Jasmine Guy direct was truly inspired. The actresses [four of whom had worked with Jasmine before] knew the women they were portraying, not just reciting lines in order to get through the Sunday night performance. I have to mentioned Nevaina Rhodes and Crystal Fox as the two actresses that stood out the most. These ladies KNOW HOW TO ACT!!

During the talk back, someone asked if they thought the message of the play had changed since the original production in 1974. Two of the actresses remarked that subjects such as rape and abortion were no longer issues that people did not acknowledge [but everyone knew existed]. However, another actress stated that the play was not written during the time of AIDS and lesbianism within the African American community. So, Ntozake, we need FOR COLORED GIRLS part two!

This is the second production I have seen at True Colors .. and both times, I have left very impressed. People in Atlanta! This is a theatre company with some incredible talent! AND they have the best damn Marketing Director in town, Jenn Dwyer!

HAYYYYY!! OK ........ Due to some recent encounters with family, friends and the Jacksons, I decided to post something a little different today. I wanted to concentrate on the positive and decided to give a shout out to 7 "people, places, pets and things" that I am very grateful God has put into my life [and they are in no order of importance, just what came into my brain while I was trying to take the cookie dough ice cream away from Janet [who constantly screams at me, "no my name ain't baby, it's Janet! Miss Jackson if you're nasty!"]:

1. My job! Everyday I hear about more and more individuals being let go, laid off, etc. And so many of these people would be grateful for any type of job, no matter the pay.

2. My bossy sidekick and the true diva of the condo, Mr. Roscoe! The true diva who will bark at any dog passing by [large or small], but waits at the top of the stairs if I have go downstairs in the middle of the night. You just know Lassie would never act this way!

3. Old friends [C.C., P.P.], New Friends [H.G.], and re-discovered friends [K.Q.D-B, Dr. W.]!

4. Miss Diana Ross! Yes, MJ is a legend! Yes, Madonna is an artist! And Yes, I still can not understand how Pebbles ever became a singer, but Miss Ross was before all of THAT HOT MESS!

5. My family through thick and thin .. and NO, I'm not taking about when I was a supermodel and now!

6. My home! I freakin' love my condo! Mr. Roscoe and I have lived here for over a year [and YES, there are still some boxes that need to be unpacked] and I still go WOW!

7. God! Plain and simple.

HAYYYYY!! OK ........ Gotta give two shout outs today:

SHOUT OUT #1: The State of New Hampshire has just made gay marriage legal in their state! Can you believe that? Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont, Maine and now New Hampshire! I still can not believe the kind of progress gay marriage has made since November. I know it was not successful in California [yet!], but WOW!

On the flipside, I'll quote one of my former employers, "I believe in gay marriage. Why should only straight people go through the hell of divorce?"

SHOUT OUT #2: You know that I love, love, love dance music, especially remixes of pop songs. Well, I have just found an incredible new website, DJ Chromatic's Ultimate Mixes [http://www.ultimatemixes.blogspot.com/]. Dj Chromatic's [the damn good looking man in the above picture] site is filled with enough new and old mixes to make an aging disco diva wet his pants. He even had a Miss Ross remix that I had not heard!

Thanks DJ!

HAYYYYY!! OK ........ Just wanted to post a quick shout out out to my brother, BR, for all of the hard work that he [and my sister-in-law, SR] put into Buford's 2009 Art and Jazz Festival! Along with co-ordinating the 100+ vendors and musicians, he was also the MC and played a few drum solos!

When we met up at a Buford restaurant today, a few of the Buford business owners stopped by and gave BR some great compliments!

SHOUT OUT!!
